The Once-ler still wasn't exactly at ease with leaving Martel in the forest. For a start, he still didn't trust her not to do anything heroic or stupid in his absence. For another...well, Mithos would have noticed her missing by now, started looking for her. She was leaving herself unguarded, if Mithos found her, that would be it. All his efforts would have been gone to waste.

But what could he do? The stubborn woman wouldn't listen to him, and he couldn't exactly drag her against her will all the way to the resistance camp. And so, minus one very snazzy coat (he really loved that thing too) he wandered back into the caves. It hadn't been the easiest of days, actually it had been a ridiculously difficult day, and now all he wanted to do was sleep and maybe check if Sheena had actually done any damage when she tried to kill him earlier.

He started to head towards his usual spot in the cave, well out of the way of everyone else. He'd rest here and head back into the forest tomorrow to check up on her. Yes, that was clearly the best plan.
