Angel Zombies in a Magical Castle:
a drama

THE ANNIVERSARY
[It's been exactly two years since Mithos took over Paradisa. That's two years of delightful massacres, scaring people into the Dead Zone, and manipulating former friends with the ageless face of a Kharlan hero. Two years of your character struggling to hold onto life as they know it while under the shadow of a fearsome ruler from another world. Two years of scraping to get by, cowering in the Dead Zone, waiting for a chance to go home or a death that Paradisa can't-- won't-- give.
There is nothing planned for today, though there are a few whimsical sort of changes that Mithos called for. The angels are on security detail as usual, policing the grounds; however, Mithos and his closest subordinates may be stepping outside. There is a grand feast set up in the ballroom... but angels don't eat, so it's really just for show. The place has the air of a graveyard party where even the dead decide not to attend.
There is an undercurrent of anxiety tonight, a breath held in anticipation. Something is about to happen, and even the insects are quiet.]

[ooc: HUGE OPEN MINGLING POST for characters who either reside in the castle as angelic little zombies, or people who are returning for whatever reason. Please don't threadjack something without notifying the muns in advance!

Welcome to Paradisa Town!
(which has shamelessly stolen an image of Kamiki Village until someone finds me good fanart of an Animal Crossing town or equally cutesy village)
This is the current refuge settlement of the survivors that are located in the Dead Zone. Unlike all those
poor dudes that stay behind, you don't have to worry about angels or such! Just the occasional Dead Zone
threat! There's plenty of fish in the waters, peaches in the trees, survivors have grown crops and okay finally
got brave enough to slaughter those eight legged sheep- so things are pretty nice in comparisons to others! Hell,
Dr. House even has a brewery going!
So feel free to relax and enjoy all the shenanigans of Paradisa Town.

[OOC: This is an open post for anyone who either lives out in the Dead Zone or visits it! An open post for the rest of the groups will come at the beginning of December along with a link by link update. Until then, feel free to make your own posts! Also add your own sections to this post! Have fun! ]

[Marceline can be found in the caves, humming and writing in her journal. She doesn't seem particularly concerned with any actual resistance goings-on.]

[It's been a long time since she's looked at her journal, but even in her darkest moments, Sheena's never forgotten it or the people she once spoke to over it. How could she, when she'd see their faces as she hunted them down again and again?
For several long moments, she sits in a quiet corner of Once-ler's cave running her hand over the binding, as though trying to commit it to memory before opening it. Her eyes narrow in confusion as she sees what's been written there. Strange ramblings about anything and everything--including a comparison (with pictures) of Once-ler and a giraffe and the theory of how they're related.
She closes the book, then re-opens it. Yes, all those things are still there. Picking up the pencil she had found, she sighed as she put the shaking tip to the paper and began writing.]
( It's been a long time since she's used one of these filter things )
[ooc: She's trying to get in contact with those from home who might still be around in order to start healing, but anyone is free to contact her and let her know they're alive.]

[Even though Zelos had a group to travel with, he still liked moments of being alone. It was funny, two years of wishing he could speak and now that he finally could he couldn't find himself having a whole lot to say]
[So with that, sometime in the early evening hours he decided to step away from his camp group and have some time to think to himself. He was far enough away from the site so even if he was spotted, he felt safe in not having the others discovered. He had even passed someone from the resistance on the way to the Dead Zone to pick up supplies, and not realizing who or what he was- felt like doing a good deed of giving him a couple cookies that had been prepared]
[Yeah. Like that will do any good]
[Eventually he gets tired of wandering and spots a nice boulder to sit on. He sits down it, running his hands depressed through his short hair and staring at the cookies- momentarily cursing his life]
[That is, until the rock starts to move and throw him off]
Ow! What the hell-!
[He looks from the ground to see that the boulder was not a boulder, but what seems to be a rather irate graveler, unhappy to be used as a seat and ready to attack him]
...Oh. great.
[OOC: completely open for anyone in or near the mountains!]

It is a curious fact that Secret Meeting Places come in all shapes and sizes. On his own part, Lemony could no longer count all of the ones he had known, but there were still several that were quite memorable: a Turkish coffee parlor in Memphis, the space in the shaft above an elevator in a well-known hotel, even a cardboard box that had once held an industrial refrigerator. But as he finally made his way through the last of the forest path toward the rebels' secret base, he knew that it was already reserving itself a place upon the memorable list... If not perhaps for the form, but for the cause it supported. Of all the things he had rallied for, the defeat of angels would not feasibly have appeared on his personal list, before now. Even so, he ducked inside and prepared to both learn, and be queried...
(Open, come meet the new guy if you haven't already, or chat him up if you have!)

[Someone might hear a lot of shuffling about in the fabric shop out in the Animal Crossing town. They could mistake it for a rabbit, maybe. Or they could have seen a little flash of bright orange, or they could have heard the ringing of a small bell. Either way, there was definitely somebody in there, being a busy little mouse.
After Rhyme collected enough yarn, she sat on the floor, taking out two knitting needles. Ever since she'd came to the Dead Zone, she knew she needed to be at least somewhat useful. It had taken her a while to find her niche--and a bad, bad attempt at fishing--but at the moment, it seemed knitting something was it. Not sewing, which could have disappointed Shiki, but knitting little things, like scarves or hats. Winter was going to be approaching soon, so she had to start hurrying. So, humming, she started knitting out a hat, a larger one, occasionally standing and stretching. ]

Things hadn't been good for Rapunzel. Being under the control of Mithos; forced to do such terrible things... She had never imagined something that bad would happen, not even at Paradisa. But oh, the damage that she'd done haunted her, even as she tried to focus on the fact that she had control now. It did help, that, to bring out a bit more of her hope. She was very careful of the bracelet she wore, because if anything happened to her keycrest and she went back to being a proper Seraphim... No. She wouldn't let herself even imagine it.
It was a good enough keycrest that she could feel the ghosts of sensations like warmth and touch, but not good enough for her to sleep. She longed to, though, to just have a night to escape the reality of what had happened. As that wasn't an option, she tried to keep herself busy exploring the town. She'd never been there before the attack on the castle, anyway... Yet there was something that made exploration difficult. She had been reluctant to talk to anyone yet, though there were a few she had run into. As she wandered around that particular day, she felt exhasuted. Not physically, of course, but emotionally. Even willing away the sight of her wings seemed like too much effort.
[ ooc: Feel free to decide if your character has run into Rapunzel before now or not! Also I hope I did this right. :| ]

[Somewhere beyond the reach of the sun, there exists a laboratory. It is staffed entirely by the brightest of Mithos' minions, who work tirelessly to study anything that might help their lord come that much closer to his goal, from weaponry to the anatomy of any unfortunate souls not compatible with Cruxis Crystals. None survive long after being sent here; the lucky ones return to their own worlds after only a death or two.
There is but one whom they are expressly forbidden to kill. The risk of escape upon revival is far too great...]
Kagome, kagome...

...Kago no naka no tori wa...
...Itsu, itsu deyaru...
[Predictably, his mind has not fared well under this sort of treatment. Mostly the long-haired man is silent, save for the occasional sound of pain he makes during particularly rough testing. But sometimes...]
...Yoake no ban ni...
[...sometimes he sings or speaks, and none know what he means by these odd ramblings.]
...Tsuru to kame ga subetta...
[Slowly, a small smile creeps over Dhaos' face as he stares at the scientist closet to him, and had the angel been able, it would have known fear.]
...Ushiro no shoumen daare?
((ooc: Hover over the song lyrics for a translation. There are a number of alternate ways this can be written, so this is just the one I thought most fitting to the situation.))

The Story Thus Far:
The Once-ler has successfully freed Martel Yggdrasil from captivity, bringing her to the woods for safety. Martel, afraid of the retribution this might bring, pleaded Once-ler to tell no one that she has escaped. Once-ler then returned to the Resistance, only telling Ino about what had happened. Martel meanwhile traveled the woods alone until she met up with Zack Fair, the now embittered mercenary that's been doing what he can to stay alive and free in this setting.
However it wasn't as though Martel's disappearance went without notice. Mithos noticed his sister's absence and has set out all stops to find her. Whether or not you know of Martel's release, it's hard not to notice the larger number of angels around - even if some appear less than intimidating. Because of this, the small traveling group of Zelos Wilder, Arya Stark and Genis Sage have decided to travel to the mountains to use the stronger winds for safe haven from any lifeless angels until they can stronger.
Meanwhile back in the Resistance, efforts to fight back still persist. The inventors are having struggles in creating better keycrests for their loved ones that have been transformed into angels. In the less tech part of the Resistance, Tsuna and Allen continued their efforts to revert angels back to their former selves. They were successful in converting Mithos's former assassin Sheena, but due to some mishaps Maladict escaped from their attempts.
Oh and Garry moped.
With all these different teams going on, what will be the next thing to occur? Will things turn in favor to the Resistance, or will it only get worse? Will Garry ever stop moping? Will any of you remember to use the damn journal? Only time will tell...
[OOC: This post has two services, first as a recap as you seen above, as well as a mass open post for all the on-goings you rather not make an entire post for! Feel free to use this post as such or simply make your own post in the comm, it matters not! [The forest was eerily quiet; only a few buzzes and chirps of the bugs punctuated the silence now and then. Paradisa was always pretty lacking in the wild animal department, but there's no doubt that what little wildlife there had been-- especially those closest to the city-- had been scared off by war between the resistance and Mithos long ago.
Two pairs of footsteps did break the silence, however; Tsuna and Allen were walking in the forest, heading towards the city. It was routine for them to revert angels together when they had the time and resources, and that was exactly what they were planning to do. Of course, should they come upon any angels before they make it to their destination, they'll deal with them as well.
Tsuna's currently got his arms folded behind his head as they walk.]
Seems like a lot's been going on, lately.
((So very much open! If you've got any angels you're looking to turn back, you've come to the right place. Just make sure you explicitly state you'd like to have them keycrested so there's no confusion! ♥))

Damn it. Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT.
Nikola Tesla throws down one of the tools he had been using to build the new version of the keycraft he had been working on in the last several hours. No. He knew it wouldn't work, he knew that if it was placed on a crystal it would probably malfunction, turning the wearer in a much worse state than the other way around...it was a hopeless cause. Why was he working on it, then? He could've just used the time to create a simpler keycraft that would work without any problems, but no, he had to make it better. Make it able to return more humanity to the wearer.
He paces back and forth, trying to think of what to do next. Because he knows exactly why he's been wasting so much time on this. If they ever got Maladict, he wanted her to have the best- it hurt, really, to think she would never be the same after what happened, but he wanted to restore as much as possible for her. The ability to taste coffee, for example, or the ability to actually feel things around her, to live her life like it had been before this whole mess had started...
Tesla sighs, before heading out of the cave to stand in the fresh air, where he could think better without the pressure of making that keycraft perfect hanging above his head. What if they never got her back? How long would she still be in that castle, a puppet to Mithos' orders? He didn't know, he didn't want to know.
The only thing he can do is keep going forward and hope everything falls into line.

The feathers were annoying. More than annoying, really. Every time he started a project like this, one would somehow find its way onto the fabric and he'd stitch in it in without noticing for a while, only later having to waste time to undo the stitches and get the dumb thing out.
He lets out a huff and shakes his head as he tosses another black feather that has fallen on the shirt he's currently stitching over his shoulder, before finally giving into his frustration. He doesn't want to work on this thing anymore, not at this time.
"Why couldn't it have been as simple as before...?" He mutters to himself as he starts folding the thing up. But of course, he knows it would never be simple anymore. Not in a million years. Not after what happened...
He stretches out the black wings on his back, like he just woke up from a nap- it took a long time to get used to them, and frankly, it does feel strange every once in a while when he consciously recalls that they're there. But most of the time, they're just like another pair of arms to him, even though he's long forgotten how to actually use them to fly around.
Garry descends from the tree slowly, pocketing his needle and pool of thread in the pocket across from the one holding his rose before he does so. When he finally gets to the ground, he brushes off any twigs and leaves that have strayed into his hair, and starts moving towards where the Resistance camp is, eyes glancing around the area without much interest. There he would probably find a spot to clear his mind before setting back off into the woods to once again go over everything that had gone wrong the day that the takeover started.
He hated this. He hated becoming this...this thing, but in the end, there was nothing he could do.
What was done was done.
