THE ANNIVERSARY

[It's been exactly two years since Mithos took over Paradisa. That's two years of delightful massacres, scaring people into the Dead Zone, and manipulating former friends with the ageless face of a Kharlan hero. Two years of your character struggling to hold onto life as they know it while under the shadow of a fearsome ruler from another world. Two years of scraping to get by, cowering in the Dead Zone, waiting for a chance to go home or a death that Paradisa can't-- won't-- give.

There is nothing planned for today, though there are a few whimsical sort of changes that Mithos called for. The angels are on security detail as usual, policing the grounds; however, Mithos and his closest subordinates may be stepping outside. There is a grand feast set up in the ballroom... but angels don't eat, so it's really just for show. The place has the air of a graveyard party where even the dead decide not to attend.

There is an undercurrent of anxiety tonight, a breath held in anticipation. Something is about to happen, and even the insects are quiet.]

[After leaving Lloyd with...oh lets say Yuan, Zelos had come up onto the mountain to check on things. He felt anxious, letting Lloyd out of his sight after finally finding him again- but he knew it for the best. He trusted Lloyd, but it didn't mean Arya did- and more importantly, Nymeria. He was not dumb enough to bring his recovering friend near an unstable angel girl with a direwolf's safe spot.]

[Of course, being lost in his own thoughts about Lloyd, he didn't notice the new occupants of the cave until he was at the mouth of it. Then he sure noticed one of them.]

...Wow. That's..definitely a dragon, and it's sitting my stuff.

Great.

[WHAT THE HELL]

[ Well, not entirely, but Drogon certainly managed to navigate himself in such a way that his head is sitting on Zelos' belongings. On purpose. So yes, it is the dragon's fault that some of the things might be a little singed.

He is far too large to fit properly through the "door" leading to his nest, but he certainly has tried to fit through.

Daenerys blinks, half torn between laughter and ... something else. ]

Tread carefully, he is in a mood.

Ah, nothing better than moody fire breathing teenagers.

[That's frustrating. Oh well, he knows better than to poke dragons for some stuff. he just hopes his mirror and brush were part of that pile. ]

[wilder]

[But he'll look over at her now, his expression softens a bit. ]

So you're back now, huh?

[draca]

[ Drogon huffs a smoke over his things again, fiery eyes focused solely on Zelos. Disapproving and clearly not pleased by the redhead's presence. ]

Yes. [ Unfortunately, she thinks. ]

[wilder]

[He feels that disapproving glare and just...takes a few steps further AWAY from the dragon because haha no]

...I'd welcome you back, but I was kinda hoping you'd be free of this whole mess.

[draca]

As had I. [ She looks over at the dragon, before turning her attention to Zelos again. ]

But it seems it did not wish to let me go yet. [ The annoyance is clear in her voice, just a step away from anger. ] Dragons are not so easily cowed.

[wilder]

Nor their mothers, for that fact.

[He frowns, realizing he can only hear one dragon]

Where are the other two?

[draca]

In Meereen, they did not return with me.

[wilder]

Except for Drogon.

[Of couuurse the problem child is the one that sticks]

Are you well?

[draca]

Expect for Drogon.

[ Which is both a blessing and a curse.

At the question she shifts, hands hugging her arms to herself. ]

I am physically unharmed, my health fares, but my heart yearns for my city and my people. My blood demands I cease hiding, but to take to the field would serve me not.

Drogon is almost grown enough to ride, but I struggle to control him. He is wild and unruly and fierce as any dragon should be.

[wilder]

...You'll go back again one day, I'm sure of it. And maybe one day here we won't have to hide.

[He glances over at Drogon, that is a concern]

Unfortunately I don't know a thing about dragon taming. [a sigh; this is what he gets for not paying better attention in school] He probably won't want to stay in the cave for long.

[draca]

Mayhaps. [ She does not sound so convinced. ] Words are like wind.

[ Another huff and the dragon lifts his head from Zelos' things, retreating through the melted stone hold leading to his nest. ]

You are right, he will not. Sooner or later he will stop listening to me and take flight on his own. Drogon is strong, the strongest of all my children, yet I still fear for him.

[wilder]

Well the wind is mostly what keeps this cave safe, so don't completely discredit it.

[Oh thank goddess his stuff didn't get eaten. He slowly tries creeping towards it to retrieve it]

Of course you do, he's your kid. [a sigh] I wish I knew of a way for him to stretch his wings without risk of getting caught.

[draca]

[ She laughs shortly. It is true, the wind has protected this place so far. ]</small As do I. A way, I pray, will present itself before his patience has run it's course and he no longer listens. Until then I will try to keep him still and silent.

[wilder]

We'll think of something.

[It always sounds better when you say it.]

I have to say, much as I'd rather you be back in your world...it's been almost too quiet without you and the dragons. Genis went home too...so it's just been Arya, Nymeria and me.

[draca]

[ She turns her head, regarding him properly, a small smile playing on her lips. He has missed me. ]

I cannot with a good heart apologize for my absence, but I am here now and the silence banished.

[wilder]

[Hell yeah he did. Just you know, never good to openly say GLAD YOU'RE BACK when it's zombie apocalypse land]

Heh, I can accept that! You got nothing to be sorry for anyway.

[draca]

In time I may.

[ Her gaze moves back to the dragonfire melted hole. ]

[wilder]

We'll find a way so that doesn't happen.

[There's got to be something they can do. But he'll give her a topic change so she has something else to focus on]

On the brighter note, I might have a way to restore Arya's ability to sleep and eat.

[draca]

[ It is only a matter of time, she thinks, before Drogon ignores her and hunts down another child. But she keeps such thoughts to herself, dragging her attention back to Zelos. ]

You have? [ It certainly changes her focus, a look of disbelief and sheer hope flickering on her face. ] Tell me more.

[wilder]

[Good he can go eat Mithos, he counts right? ]

A friend of mine just escaped from the angels. He's still...recovering from what happened, but if things go well he's got more knowledge in crafting keycrests than everyone in the Resistance. He'd be able to make her one that'll let her do those things again.

[draca]

Does this mean... [ She dares not place her hope in something that may not come to pass, but yet─ ]

Have you told Arya?

[wilder]

Not yet.

I'm still trying to figure out if I should.

[draca]

You should, you must.

She has a right to know, a right to choose if she wants to take this path or not.
