PREMISE
Based on This Post from Paradisa during a Nightmare Plot
Magic castle gets taken over by crazy bro in a disco suit: zombie angels ensue.
SYMPHONIAN BACKGROUND
Mithos Yggdrasil was once a great hero of his world, known as Mithos the Hero to many. He and his travel companions worked relentlessly to stop a thousand year war, end discrimination between the races and save the world from utter destruction. Determined and fearless, Mithos was thought to be a true ray of light for the world.
However, everything changed when his older sister Martel Yggdrasil was murdered by a treacherous human. Mithos, in grief and rage, fell into madness and corruption. He became obsessed with the idea of reviving his sister and saving the world in his own twisted fashion, no longer caring about who got hurt in the process. He wished to bring about equality in the only way he could see it being achieved: by turning everyone into lifeless beings called Angels. He abused the powers of Cruxis Crystals, crystals of power formed out of human life, to extend his lifespan to unnatural lengths so he can see this dream be achieved. He then played god and fashioned the world to slowly work towards this cause- killing and harming millions upon millions in the process over his reign.
It would be four thousand years later when a challenger would finally topple his regime. Lloyd Irving was a young man who accidentally set out on a journey along with his childhood friends to save their land of Sylvarant. As the journey progressed, he began to learn and understand more about the world, and how much Mithos had truly twisted it. He grew to have a simple, yet powerful dream: to have a world in which no one had to be sacrificed. His ability to never give up and to see people for people regardless of race, background and status stirred the hearts and minds of people, especially the eight companions that decided to follow him on this mission who would later be known as the Heroes of Regeneration.
It was a long journey with many hardship, but in the end it proved to be successful. Lloyd, while being much like Mithos once was, proved to be much stronger in his abilities to see other points of views and most importantly - accept and learn from his mistakes. And while Lloyd tried his best to convince Mithos to stop what he was doing and become the hero he once was, Mithos proved to be much too far in his madness to ever relent.
So they killed him like a dozen times like any good JRPG wooo. And after that, while the world was still chock full of problems, it could slowly begin to heal.
PARADISA BACKGROUND
Unfortunately for everyone, Paradisa has a nasty habit of bringing back the dead. So after bringing in six of the nine Heroes of Regeneration, Martel Yggdrasil andZoidberg Yuan Ka-Fai - it decided to bring in Mithos Yggdrasil, fresh from being dead. Mithos, discovering that this was a land that could bring back the dead like his sister, decided to bring his dreams of the Age of Lifeless Beings into this land and take it for his own.
He began slow, lulling many people from his world into believing that he was from before the days he went mad, as he learned as much as he could about this world as well as coaxing as many people as he could to his side and set of ideals.
Then one day two of the Heroes of Regeneration, Colette Brunel and Zelos Wilder, disappeared. They had been captured by Mithos, and by the time their friends finally located them- it was too late. They had been reverted into lifeless angels under the command of Mithos and were used to bring down many of their friends one by one - each of them joining the ranks of Mithos's forces. Soon there was almost nothing left of the once proud Heroes of Regeneration aside from the young Genis Sage who had fled into the forest.
Once he had a force large enough, he began an assault on the castle. The sudden attack and inability to prepare caused the castle to cripple. They were not prepared to fight those who had once been their friends. Those who were not killed or escaped were turned into lifeless angels as well. The town, full of humans that proved to be harder to turned into angels as their souls were too clutched onto by Cair Paradisa itself, was then destroyed thanks to Mithos's hatred towards humans and impatience. It had seemed that Mithos had all but won.
However, there was still hope. Many of the castle residents, either by luck or earlier suspicions, managed to escape the takeover and be spared the fate of their friends. The ones who could not or would not fight left for the Dead Zone, starting a permanent settlement out there where Mithos could not reach. Many of the ones who did remain then became devoted to fighting Mithos and his reign of terror. The Resistance, formed byZoidberg Yuan Ka-Fai is the largest and strongest cell of such. They work to stop Mithos at every turn either by fighting and using keycrests, devices that stops the lifeless symptoms of angels, to save their fallen friends. Though greatly outnumbered, they refuse to be stopped.
And that's where the story of Cruxisa begins.
TERMS TO KNOW
Angel: An artificially created race that is made when a person fully activates and syncs with a Cruxis Crystal through a long process. They received the name angels for the wings they receive and their powerful light based magic. Their strength, reflexes, eyesight, sense of smell and hearing far surpasses human or elven senses, but without a properly made keycrest they can have little to no sense of touch or taste. Angels may also lose the ability to eat, sleep, feel emotions or talk - but these things can be fixed if the angel uses a keycrest that allows them to remain more human/whatever race you are. The Cruxis Crystal freezes a person's aging - rendering them immortal unless killed. Angels come in two flavors:
Lifeless Beings: The more common angel during the age of Mithos made out of crappier Cruxis Crystals. A Lifeless Being Angel has the more traditional white or black feathery wings that can't be hidden. They receive their name from the dead look in their eyes and their suppressed free will/conscious. When they are without a keycrest, their minds and souls are completely numbed - they have barely any awareness of what is going on. When a keycrest is applied, they sure will remember everything though.
Examples of wings and outfits: 1 2 3 4
Seraphim: The more powerful sort of angel. Seraphim possess specialfairy wings that are colored and shaped uniquely to the person and can be hidden. They also have more extensive use of the light spells than the lifeless. Without a keycrest, their souls and minds are fully aware of what's going on as it happens, but they have absolutely no control over their bodies and situation. Sort of think of it like they are trapped in a cage in their own body and can't get out. Yeah. It sucks.
Example of Wings: 1 2 3 4 5 6
Note!: Once a character becomes an angel, there is no reverting back. You can give them a keycrest so they regain their original personality and mind. But removal of a Cruxis Crystal without a keycrest will cause a person's energy flow to destabilize and turn into a monster. Removing it with a keycrest will just result in mass organ failure if they are without it for too long. So Don't.
Have more questions? Here is a more in-depth FAQ simply about angels!
Cruxis Crystals: The special crystals that can transform a person into an angel, or simply enhance a person's innate abilities if you don't go through the full transformation. Their most common color is red, but they are also seen in greens and blues. A user must apply it directly to the skin- and the exact location will vary person to person though the most common spot is on the chest. If a person or angel dies with a cruxis crystal attached, their soul will be sucked into it and they will be trapped. Also? They're made of people.
Keycrests: Special devices that when attached to a person wearing a Cruxis Crystal, it will negate many of the bad side effects (however how many depends on the quality of the keycrest). These are carved out of inhibitor ore native to Aselia with Angelic/magic runes all over them to make it work. They can come in many forms- from mounts for Cruxis Crystals to bracelets to necklaces as long as it can be worn.
CURRENT FACTIONS
Angels
Mithos's forces. Aside from Mithos and a couple of others, they have all been controlled or brainwashed into joining this side. Mithos seeks out his version of "utopia" - aka everyone the exact same in the state of lifelessness. Currently they control the castle and patrol the ruins of the city. They are trying to take control of the forest, but this is proving more difficult than they thought thanks to the Resistance and the ever pissed castle that regrows any destroyed section quickly and thicker than before.
Yeah. Even the castle is pissed at them.
Known Members
La Resistance
A group of castle residents that survived the takeover of Paradisa and devote themselves to taking down Mithos and his forces. While they have no official leader, they all treat Yuan like one anyway. Their base is deep in the forest in caves.
Known Members
All these people are not affiliated officially with either side. All of them are currently on the run from the Angels, but they have their own reasons for not joining the Resistance- though many of them still consider them allies of them. With all having varying opinions about what should be done, they are sort of the wildcard faction here.
Known People
These are the guys who said fuck this battle shit and went to start a new settlement safe and sound in the Dead Zone. They are supporting you guys morally really.
No really this group is probably at least responsible for sending shipments of food and supplies that they manage to grow and build out there to the Resistance. So yay one more food source so you guys don't die.

FAQ
I wasn't involved in the Nightmare Plot, can I still join?
Yep! Anyone from Paradisa, old and new, are welcomed to play! We even ask that any characters played by muns not involved in this musebox be left as their fates unknown, so muns have free reign to decide what happened with their characters if they choose to join. If this is a problem for your character, say that they got lost in the confusion or just...handwave it.
Do I need to know Tales of Symphonia to play?
NOPE. It's nice to know, but it's far from necessary. If there are any questions, there are many muns with TOS knowledge very happy to answer and help out.
Is there Activity Checks?
Nope! It's purely a musebox!
If I join, how can I involve my character?
Any way you want! Your character can be among the non-angel survivors (either with the Resistance, in the Dead Zone or doing their own thing), an angel still under the control of Mithos or an Angel that's regained themselves via a keycrest - the sky's the limit!
Can I change my character's position once I join?
Certainly! Survivors can get captured, Angels can regain themselves or lose themselves again, etc etc. The only thing to keep in mind is that once they become an angel - there is NO reverting back to being human. They can regain their own minds and join forces with the survivors, but they are forever stuck as angels.
Is there any rules on characters brought in?
Please keep it to characters who have been apped into Paradisa. It's totally okay for it to be dropped characters (since characters can be returned with memories), but please keep it to characters that you have at some point apped into Paradisa just to save on mass confusion. The character page can be found here
Exceptions for NPCs with the angels or Resistance members can be made, but they are NPCs ONLY (aka very minor characters in the musebox). With those, please avoid characters that have been apped into Paradisa.
What about Dropped characters returning?
You are free to say that they were spending time in any world change you want, but then suddenly found themselves back in Paradisa! You are free to drop them wherever, but they might want to run for their lives if they are a survivor that winds up in the castle.
Can wishes still be made at the Castle?
Yep. You just have to be crafty in how you get there without getting caught by the army of angels :)
What about World Changes?
To save on simplicity- we'll say no to world changes. The Cruxis Crystals are trapping too many souls for Paradisa to have enough juice to handle an entire world change.
Is there a proper format to posts?
Nope! They can be prose, action brackets - whatever you want!
