The Story Thus Far:

The Once-ler has successfully freed Martel Yggdrasil from captivity, bringing her to the woods for safety. Martel, afraid of the retribution this might bring, pleaded Once-ler to tell no one that she has escaped. Once-ler then returned to the Resistance, only telling Ino about what had happened. Martel meanwhile traveled the woods alone until she met up with Zack Fair, the now embittered mercenary that's been doing what he can to stay alive and free in this setting.

However it wasn't as though Martel's disappearance went without notice. Mithos noticed his sister's absence and has set out all stops to find her. Whether or not you know of Martel's release, it's hard not to notice the larger number of angels around - even if some appear less than intimidating. Because of this, the small traveling group of Zelos Wilder, Arya Stark and Genis Sage have decided to travel to the mountains to use the stronger winds for safe haven from any lifeless angels until they can stronger.

Meanwhile back in the Resistance, efforts to fight back still persist. The inventors are having struggles in creating better keycrests for their loved ones  that have been transformed into angels. In the less tech part of the Resistance, Tsuna and Allen continued their efforts to revert angels back to their former selves. They were successful in converting Mithos's former assassin Sheena, but due to some mishaps Maladict escaped from their attempts.

Oh and Garry moped.

With all these different teams going on, what will be the next thing to occur? Will things turn in favor to the Resistance, or will it only get worse? Will Garry ever stop moping? Will any of you remember to use the damn journal? Only time will tell...

Well, I guess? I mean, I've had them for more than two years, it's about time I actually started using them instead of just them being huge feather dusters...

[Don't mind the black feathers just floating down on you, Sheena- he just moults too much for his own good.]

[She swipes irritably at the damn things falling around her, eyes glued to Garry.]

You'd probably be better off using them as dusters.

[Don't mind her, she's still a little bitchy about things.]

Hey, that's the last thing I want to do! They're really annoying as they are!

[He manage to push himself upward on his knees, letting out a sigh.]

I mean, it's not like I wanted these in the first place...

[Sighs. No one really wants those things.]

Fine. Get up.

[thehangedrose]

Getting up!

[And he does so, folding his wings behind him as he look over Sheena curiously.]

Hey...I think I met you before. You seem really familiar.

[At least he's got that part down.]

It doesn't matter who I am.

Why not? You're a person too, right? At least you could give me your name...I'm Garry, by the way.

[A person. Yeah, right. But if that's what he wants to believe.]

It's Sheena.

[You know, the one who went around killing everyone?]

Sheena! A pleasure to meet you!

[To be fair, he wasn't around the castle enough to get to know all the angels there, and it's been a while since he's even been near the castle, so he merely beams, stretching a hand for her to shake, if she wants.]

I guess.

[She looks at his hand a moment before taking it. Her grip isn't weak, but it isn't too strong, either--nor is the shake too friendly. It's just precise.]

[thehangedrose]

[He shakes it quickly and withdraws it, afraid that crazy angelic strength might go and tear her hand off if he's not careful.]

Yeah, so...are you part of the Resistance, Sheena?

[He obviously doesn't know who she is, or he wouldn't be this friendly with her, would he?

Well, it doesn't matter anyway. He'll find out soon enough.]

No. Not exactly.

Not exactly? How come?

[To be fair, he isn't part of the Resistance either, but it was always curious for him to find out why other people didn't join.]

I just woke up after being "saved".

[There's a bit of sarcastic inflection on that last word--as though she doesn't approve the effort.]

[He tilts his head, trying to figure out what that means but failing horribly at it.]

Like...you were keycrested recently, is that what you're saying? If that's true, you're an angel!

Is that why you won't join them? Because of what you are?

Yes. I'm an angel; I don't want to be. I don't even want to be saved, but they won't do anything about that. And I'm not allowed to.

[She looks ahead just slightly past him.]

No one would want me to be a part of this group, trust me.

[thehangedrose]

Hey, hey, nobody wants to be an angel! That's not your fault that you became one, we were all forced, believe me, I know. [And an incredulous sound.] And why don't you want to be saved? You want to go back being that...that mindless thing from before you got the keycrest?

[Don't mind him, he's just going to go up and shake you by the shoulders because LOOK AT YOUR LIFE LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES]

Don't say that! I mean, just having you back to the person you were must be a really happy thing for all of then! I mean...yeah, I know they judge and all because of the angel thing, but that doesn't mean they don't want you!

[And don't mind her as she reacts on instinct and responds to the shaking with an uppercut.]

Let go of me. I don't want to be that mindless monster again. I don't want to be me, either. I don't want to be at all. Do you get it now?

[thehangedrose]

[He winces away, even though he doesn't feel it, and instead gives her a frown.]

What, so you just think that the only way out now is...killing yourself, is that it?

[Garry shakes his head. No. NO.]

Listen...I understand being an angel is hard, I know. And I can't imagine what you've went through, being over in that castle, but in the end, you're still you, you know. Despite all of this added stuff, we're still us, and that's worth fighting for, okay?

Killing yourself...it's just like giving up. You have people who rely on you and you just want to throw that away...I don't want that to happen. I never want that to happen.

They were right so long ago. I don't deserve to be alive. Not then, and not now.

[She turns away and looks at her hands.]

I've done something far worse than kill too many people this time. I made it possible for them to be placed in that mindless hell known as being an Angel. I can never be forgiven for that.

No, you do! Everyone does...And you may have done some bad things in the past, but that doesn't mean you need to drown yourself in them. What good is that going to do you?

And if it means anything, I forgive you. What we did back then, in that castle...that's over and done with. That wasn't us, don't you understand?

It will keep me away from everyone so I don't hurt them anymore.

[She looks at him, confused and contemplating.]

You forgive me? [She can't. Not yet. It may not have been her, but she had always been stubborn about not playing by anyone else's rules.

After a moment, she says one word. A word that if he had ever hear her utter to a certain someone, still may possess the faintest echo of that intonation.]

Idiot.

But you won't hurt anyone anymore, right? You're you again. I mean, unless you like hurting people in your spare time, which I'm sure you don't, then you won't do that out of the blue

And yes, I do. I forgive you, because...because I get it. I know what it was like, and we shouldn't let that trouble us, okay?

[And at the word, he is taken aback, but he just lets out a sigh. It's not like he's ever heard that word directed to him before.]

Am I...

[Who ever can she be referring to?]

Yes, forgiving me is not right.

[She hasn't been able to do it for herself yet.]
